Elin is a printmaker from Machynlleth, Mid Wales.

She specialised in Printmaking on her BA Fine Art Degree at UWIC, Howard Garden (2000-2003), where she fell in love with the craft of printmaking; the presses, the inks, the smells of a print room, the many processes and techniques which can be learnt, the process and repeating something until you create something unique.

Elin is interesting in drawing the incredible landscapes of Wales, the hills, the mountains, the trees and the wildlife that make this landscape so important to her. She is exploring the connection we have to the land and how it shapes us.

She's also interested in the people who are connected to the land in different ways, the women and men who work with the land and within the landscape.  What draws people to this landscape, and keeps us here, and questioning why do we have such a strong connection to it.

Elin is especially interested in depicted the Women of Wales, the practical women, the multitasking women, the strong adaptable women who can change a nappy in the morning and skin a lamb in the afternoon. These are the women that she is surrounded by and who inspire her daily as farm wives, friends and mothers. She does this by listening to conversations, noticing daily routines, focusing on the details, the mundane and the special moments.

Currently doing an MA in Fine Art at Aberystwyth University, she applied for the course to refine the craft of printmaking and explore new concepts. She is dedicating her time to creating something authentic, something that has evolved from the many daily influences she has.

Elis lives in a rural community surrounded by people who work the land, in the old county of Montgomeryshire, ‘Sir Drefaldwyn’. The people of Sir Drefaldwyn are often referred to as ‘mwynder maldwyn’ – the gentleness of maldwyn, which is endearing and something she is very proud of.

She feels privileged to live within the Dovey Valley, a valley with rich natural biodiversity recognised by UNESCOas the Dovey Biosphere, with various habitats; the sea, sand dunes, beaches, peat moorlands, a wide estuary, woodlands, forests, farmland, saltmarsh and large lowland peat bog. Also, unique animals and plants; otters, ospreys, red kites, dolphin pods, the peregrine falcon and the Rosy Marsh Moth to name a few, an enormous wealth of subject matter to inspire her every day.
